Who may translate documents for a visa application?

Most missions accept a translation from an identifiable translator who certifies its accuracy with a date, name and contact details — the UK sets this out in Appendix V of the Immigration Rules. Canada (IRCC) adds that the translator must not be the applicant or a family member. Destinations that need a full legalisation chain also require the translation to pass through the Department of Consular Affairs, so read each mission's own rule.
